CleanFormulation Ingredient Library

Research database documenting ingredients used in soap, detergent and cosmetic formulations.

About The Ingredient Library

The CleanFormulation Ingredient Library documents substances used in cleansing and cosmetic formulations. Each ingredient page analyzes how a specific ingredient behaves within real formulation systems rather than evaluating the ingredient in isolation.

Entries in the library describe chemical classification, formulation role, interaction behavior and regulatory context of ingredients used in soap, detergent and cosmetic products. The purpose of the library is to provide a structured reference explaining how formulation components function within cleansing systems.

Ingredient pages are based on publicly available scientific literature, formulation chemistry references and regulatory databases including the European Commission CosIng database and open chemistry resources such as PubChem.

Library Expansion

The CleanFormulation Ingredient Library is a continuously expanding reference database documenting ingredients used in soap, detergent and cosmetic formulations. New ingredient entries are added as part of ongoing research examining formulation chemistry, ingredient interaction and regulatory classification.

Because cosmetic formulations may contain thousands of individual substances, the ingredient library is designed as a scalable system capable of documenting a large number of ingredients across multiple formulation categories.

Ingredient Entity Framework

Each ingredient within the CleanFormulation Ingredient Library is documented as an independent reference entry. Ingredient pages explain formulation role, chemical classification, interaction behavior and regulatory context within cleansing systems. Product formulation analyses throughout the site link directly to these ingredient entities.

Each ingredient is documented as an independent reference entity within the CleanFormulation research framework and is linked across product formulation analyses throughout the site. New to ingredient labels? See our guide on how to read cosmetic ingredient lists.
