Feedback & Suggestions

Thank you, your observations help keep CleanFormulation accurate, accessible, and useful. This page explains what feedback we welcome, how to submit it effectively, what to expect once you submit, and our commitments around confidentiality and follow-up.

Why Your Feedback Matters

CleanFormulation is a research-first, community-minded project supported by a defined editorial team and contributors responsible for review and updates. We rely on readers, formulators, manufacturers, and researchers to surface new evidence, correct errors, and improve clarity. Crowdsourced signals (label photos, product reports, suggested sources) often lead us to important revisions faster than literature searches alone.

Contributions from readers serve three practical purposes:

  • Accuracy: Readers spot typos, outdated references, and label mismatches we may miss.
  • Coverage: You can tell us about ingredients or products that are missing from the Ingredient Library.
  • Accessibility & usability: Practical suggestions about page readability, contrast, or screen-reader behaviour help us improve access for everyone.

How to Submit Feedback (Fast, Useful Steps)

Before you submit, preparing a few items will speed our review and help us act confidently.

  1. Identify the page, copy the page URL from your browser address bar.
  2. Quote the text, copy the exact sentence, table cell or figure you believe needs correction.
  3. Provide evidence, attach a photo of the product label (clear, full ingredient list and batch code if available), DOI/PMID, or a link to the regulator or brand source.
  4. State the suggested correction, tell us what should be changed or what additional context would help readers.
  5. Optional contact, include an email if you want follow-up; anonymous reports are accepted and acted upon, but they slow clarification steps.

Tip: Photos are extremely helpful. A clear photo of the ingredient list + batch code resolves most label disputes quickly.

What Types of Feedback we Prioritise

  • Factual corrections (wrong INCI, incorrect DOI, misattributed regulator statements).
  • Missing ingredients or products you wish us to evaluate.
  • Usability and accessibility problems (screen reader issues, low contrast, broken anchors).
  • Requests for reproducibility materials (search strings, dataset extracts) from qualified researchers.
  • Product concern signals (consumer reports of adverse skin reactions with supporting product evidence).

What we do not handle through this form

We do not provide clinical diagnoses, medical advice, or legal determinations via the feedback form. For urgent medical issues, seek a clinician immediately.

What to expect after you send feedback

  • Acknowledgement: We acknowledge receipt within 7 business days and issue a tracking number (example: SR-2025-0123).
  • Initial triage: A researcher will classify the report (typo, factual issue, product concern) and determine the review path in line with our review and verification policy.
  • Investigation & outcome: Simple factual corrections are typically resolved in 2–4 weeks. Evidence reviews or product concern investigations may take longer (4–12 weeks) and include peer checks.
  • Public record: When a correction or substantive update is made, we publish a brief changelog note on the affected page explaining the change, consistent with our corrections and updates policy.

Structured feedback form

Recommended: clear photo of ingredient list, batch code, or DOI/PMID links in the message body.

We retain submissions only as long as necessary to investigate and comply with legal obligations. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Frequently asked questions (quick answers)

Q: Can I request the raw search strings and dataset you used for an ingredient?
A: Yes. Qualified researchers can request reproducibility packs via the contact form. Provide your affiliation and purpose; we prioritise academic and public-interest requests and may redact personal data.
Q: How do you handle urgent product concern reports?
A: If a submission suggests a serious product concern (severe reactions, contamination), we fast-track review, notify appropriate authorities when warranted, and update relevant pages with contextual information.
Q: Will you respond if I don't provide an email?
A: We accept anonymous reports. However, without contact details we may not be able to clarify details, which can delay resolution. Where possible, provide an email (institutional preferred for researchers).
Q: Can I submit feedback about accessibility problems?
A: Absolutely. Accessibility reports are high priority, we log and triage them separately and provide follow-up when requested.

Closing note, thank you

We build CleanFormulation with readers. Your feedback improves accuracy, highlights recurring issues, and helps the research evolve. Thank you for taking the time to point out what we missed or can do better, we read every submission and act where it improves the evidence for everyone.
